What does the field of dermatology cover?

Klinik Utoquai AG Utoquai 41 8008 Zurich

Dermatology & Aesthetic Medicine

The clinic is a world-renowned center for plastic and cosmetic surgery as well as medical cosmetology and dermatology.

3D-Scanning - Application in the clinic utoquai in Zurich

The revolutionary technology of 3D scanning is not only used in skin cancer screening, but also offers excellent application possibilities in plastic and aesthetic medicine.

3D simulation

Patients can see simulated before-and-after images before planned aesthetic procedures (e.g. breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, liposuction or filler injections). This improves consultation and expectation management.

STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY AT THE UTOQUAI CLINIC

Skin cancer screening with 3D scanning

The VECTRA 3D scanner (often referred to as the VECTRA WB360) is a state-of-the-art, AI-powered imaging system that is considered a major advancement in dermatology and aesthetic surgery. It is primarily designed to create a complete, high-resolution 3D documentation of the entire skin surface.

Full body scan in seconds

The system (often equipped with a large number of camera units, e.g. 92 cameras in the WB360) captures the entire skin surface (360 degrees) in a single image in just a few seconds. This is contactless, painless and radiation-free.

3D body map (body mapping)

The system (often equipped with a large number of camera units, e.g. 92 cameras in the WB360) captures the entire skin surface (360 degrees) in a single image in just a few seconds. This is contactless, painless and radiation-free.

AI analysis and progress monitoring

Artificial intelligence (AI) supports the analysis by recognizing all existing lesions and highlighting the most suspicious areas.

The greatest potential lies in monitoring: During follow-up examinations, the AI automatically compares the current 3D image with the previous scans. This allows even the smallest changes in shape, color, size or the appearance of new moles to be detected precisely and at an early stage, which is often difficult to do with the naked eye or manual screening.

Advantage and security

This technology is regarded as the new "gold standard", as it significantly increases the quality of early skin cancer detection and provides the treating physician with a more comprehensive and objective data basis.

The skin - important for aesthetics and the psyche

The skin is our outer shell and has a profound effect on our self-image and our social interaction.

Social and psychological role

  • Expression of feelings: The skin is often referred to as the "mirror of the soul". Blushing, paling or sweating make emotions (shame, anger, fear) visible and are an important means of non-verbal communication.

  • Self-esteem and well-being: Skin conditions (e.g. neurodermatitis, psoriasis, severe acne) or visible signs of ageing can severely affect self-esteem, lead to shame and significantly reduce quality of life. Healthy and well-groomed skin, on the other hand, contributes significantly to general well-being and self-confidence.

  • Aesthetic corrections: Aesthetic dermatology uses the skin as a starting point to soften ageing processes and optimize appearance, which is also psychologically motivated.
